Dear Colleagues!
We kindly invite you to participate in the International conference "Peatlands of Siberia: functioning, resources, restoration", which will be held on October 1-8, 2021 in Tomsk. The conference will address issues of the functioning of peatlands ecosystems, biodiversity and biogeochemical cycles of elements, hydrology and hydrochemistry of mires, issues of the GPR survey and GIS. The second section will be devoted to the issues of genesis, exploration and assessment of peat resources, issues of the practical use of peat in public utilities and agriculture, medicine and balneology, and construction. The third section is devoted to a very urgent problem of wetland restoration. The conference will be held in the format of plenary and section reports, as well as round table discussions. During the conference, we plan to organize field trips. When participating in field excursions, you can get acquainted with typical mires of the southern taiga of Western Siberia. The first tour will be organized at the world-famous Great Vasyugan Mire. In 2007, the Great Vasyugan Mire was included in the preliminary list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and at present, the Vasyugan State Nature Reserve has been created in the central part of the mire on the borders of the Novosibirsk and Tomsk Regions. The second tour will be organized on the Samus lake-bog complex, which is interesting for its complex hydrological system and very picturesque views. We will be glad to see you among the participants of the conference!
